my sister, my brother’s friend maggie, and i are visiting my brother in portland, oregon this weekend. tomorrow we’re heading to eugene to watch the usc (#5) vs. oregon (#10) game. i’m so excited!
we started off the morning at fat city for some delicious brunch. the diner was decorated pretty crazily with license plates and random street signs covering almost every inch of the walls.
my brother took us to the portland rose garden, where there were lots of beautiful fall trees. this one was by far my favorite. i love when the trees turn red!
here’s my sister, also a fall enthusiast
most of the roses were on their last leg because the weather was pretty cold, but after a few minutes of wandering through the rose garden, i found a few roses still in bloom.
fall colors 🙂
my brother took us up to pittock mansion, where we got an awesome view of portland. the mansion was really pretty, but we didn’t end up going in.
i love that this dalmatian we saw matches the leaves on the ground.
we explored the city for the rest of the day. we visited powell’s books, an overwhelmingly large bookstore that has every book imaginable. i love bookstores. i could get lost there for hours. for dinner we ate at jake’s famous crawfish, a delicious local seafood restaurant owned by mccormick and schmicks.
after dinner, we walked to this 3d glow in the dark miniature golf place in the middle of the city (crazy!), and we passed by a few cool town squares where people just gathered and played chess or hacky sack.
we visited voo doo doughnut at some point in the night. they had quite an interesting selection of doughnuts.
we ended the night at the lucky labrador brewing company. portland has tons of micro-breweries. i approve! also, i’m a fan of labs, so i’m a fan of lucky lab. they have a bunch of bulletin boards just covered with pictures of people’s dogs, in a sort of adorably dog obsessed way. i want a dog too!
