it turned out that everything that i set up on sunday was centered around a meal, so kelvin and i went on our own food tour of los angeles.
in the morning, we met up with kristen at the griddle for some delicious breakfast. as always it was so good to see her 🙂 kristen was my roommate all throughout the last four years at usc. since i’ve moved to a downtown studio, la hasn’t been the same without kristen as my roommate. luckily she’s only a drive away, and we still make time to see each other.
the pancakes at the griddle are infamously huge. kelvin ordered a banana pancake that tasted like delicious banana bread.
before we headed to hacienda heights to meet up with my family for some chinese food at earthen, we got stuck in the la triathlon traffic. the triathlon started with a swim at venice beach and ended with a run through downtown los angeles. i caught a picture of the festivities near my apartment.
after lunch, we drove to old pas and stopped by samy’s camera (a usual for kelvin and me). i bought a lensbaby composer tilt shift lens, and we spent most of the weekend playing with it.
we stopped by at the art + design open market put on by more than 100 artists from Art Center College of Design and Pasadena City College. i love craft shows, so finding the market was a pleasant surprise. i wandered around complimenting everything with an owl on it. i’m turning into the owl lady.
we ended our tour at the melting pot. we’ve never been before, and i thought it would be fun to try it out. the meal was interactive and delicious.
we ordered the “big night out”, a four course meal that ends with chocolate fondue. i was stuffed by the end. i laughed so hard when we finished our meal and kelvin said, “wow. i can’t believe we made it!” epic.
