greetings from taiwan
i’m out in taiwan for a week to visit family and enjoy taiwan. it’s been a relaxing break so far.
it’s always nice to visit taiwan because in many ways i feel at home. my dad has been living in taiwan since i was two, and my brother moved to taiwan after he graduated from college two years ago. i love taipei, the city where my dad and brother live. it’s super modern and urban, and it has more of a night life than any city i’ve ever been to.
the main source of transportation in taiwan is by moped. the streets and sidewalks are filled with them.
the hardest part by far about visiting taiwan is the time change. i’ve been so jet lagged these past two days. i keep waking up super early and getting tired before dinner. taiwan is 16 hours ahead of california time.
hot spring hotels are pretty popular in japan and taiwan. the first day that we got to taiwan, my family jumped on a bus with my grandpa, aunt, uncle, and cousin andrew to drive up to a hot spring resort in Yangmingshan.

today was a chinese holiday called Duanwu Festival, and at every meal we ate today, they gave us zongzi to eat because it is the traditional food of the holiday. they are rice dumplings filled with a sticky brown rice, pork, egg, and other things wrapped in bamboo leaves.
tomorrow my family is heading back to taipei, and then we leave for my dad’s company trip the day after tomorrow.
