i still can’t believe band season’s over. even after this long of a time, it’s shocking having a free saturday.
reflecting back, we really had a great season. perhaps the best one we’ve had in the four years i’ve been at esperanza. in many ways this season was so different. it’s funny how all these years being in band i would always look up to the seniors because they were so good and so tall and so fun. And then all of the sudden, this year there were no more seniors, and instead, i became one. and in all ways i hope that i set the same example that the seniors did for me when i was a freshman, a sophomore, and a junior. i hope i wasn’t the senior that was a bitch. or the senior that hated band and was only doing it for college. and all these years i’ve truly looked up to the band presidents. and suddenly, i’m the one that’s holding that role. running meetings, telling people what needs to be done, etc.
and the more i think about it, past all the uncomfortably hot and sweaty practices or the freezing rehersals, it’s been fun. it really has. and if you ask me if all those hours spent just for band was really worth it, i’ll tell you yes. my random pony rides on megz, our deep conversations on the bus, the little bit of giggles we shared between run throughs, singing at the top of our lungs to any song we could possibly think of, cheering on the stands… made it all worth it in the end. i hope our friendships don’t fade away because marching season has come to an end. as concert season begins and swim season starts, i hope our friendships only grow stronger because we’ll hang out for fun instead of between band activities. i <3 you guys. 🙂
