this weekend has been amazing.
and guess what? it’s not even over yet!
(did i mention that i love three day weekends?) well, i do.
saw ani and mimi for the first time in a very long time. i have missed them so much. sometimes i wonder how things would be if we all (sammie, ani, gina, mimi, and me) ended up going to the same high school.
i love how even though we don’t see each other everyday, we still manage to be friends. how we can not see each other for over a month and pick up just where we’ve left off and still have so much to say.
sometimes i think about a few of my other friends. and how sometimes, if i don’t hangout with them frequently enough, i suddenly feel as if i’ve lost them as friends. it’s almost as if hanging out with them is a ticket of continued friendship. and even though i hate to think of things like that, sometimes it really does feels like that.
ani, me, and mimi. we look like city girls.
mimi and i attempted to cure our urge for shopping on friday with ani at the cerritos mall, but it was pretty unsuccessful since we couldn’t decide where to go until really late. ani and i watched princess diaries 2 while mimi and her friends watched wicker park. princess diaries 2 was okay. it wasn’t nearly as cute or funny as the first one. kind of a disapointment almost. later we took our usual trip to guppy’s for dinner. i met a few of mimi’s friends who joined us later, and we spent the night laughing our heads off and talking so loud i almost lost my voice at the end of the night. the ride home with ani made me realize how much i’ve missed her. we talked for so long ouside of her house that she ended up inviting me into her house at some really late hour. this summer, i’ve come to realize that sometimes the best times shared are when all you have is just you, a good friend, and a comfy couch.
i spent my entire sunday at danny’s aunt’s wedding. it was a lot more fun than i expected it to be. actually, let me rephrase that, it was a lot of fun period. i attended my first wedding in a church, a beautiful one for that matter, and we took lots of pictures outside of it. the reception was at a marriot hotel, and i got to know danny’s cousins johnathan and rachel. there was a beach party afterwards for the “young people” at a laguna beach, and even though it was super duper rocky and rachel and i almost got run over by surfers several times, we still swam in the water. it was a beautiful day. and dressing up is fun.
rachel, johnathan, danny, jeanie (danny’s sister), steve (jeanie’s boyfriend), and i slept over at one of danny’s aunt’s time share resort rooms with his aunt jenny and uncle ho who danny and i recently watched spiderman 2 with. we spent the night talking, watching tv, playing cards, boggle, and dutch blitz. dutch blitz is such a cool game! i want to get it. i never really thought board games or card games were fun until recently. it’s cheap entertainment. and it’s fun too!
in the morning we checked out, and we went to newsong church in irvine. i really enjoyed that church visit. i loved the diversity, the sermon, the music, and the atmosphere in general. i hope that i can go again.
it was so much fun getting to know danny’s family. most of them live in the united states. i’m actually starting to meet so many that i’m getting a lot of them confused. i think that i might know more members of danny’s family than i know of my own. my family doesn’t really keep close contact with any of my mom or dad’s cousins, and almost all of my family from both my mom and dad’s side still live in taiwan. i love my family. i miss them.
