road trip to LA
usc was suprisingly different from what i imagined it to be. my brother played tour guide today and took me around campus. the campus is beautiful. which came totally unexpected to me because i was under some crazy impression that usc was trashy. the architecture, the fountains, was all just very college like 🙂 they even have museums behind the school near the colluseum, which kind of complete the whole college atmosphere.
even though it was crazy empty because of winter break, i think it was a nice visit to usc. plus it was real nice having someone who knew where he was going taking me around. my brother told me all these interesting things about the school, like how the school follows out the band down the main area of campus to the colluseum before all the home football games. or how they kick the skirts of the flag poles for good luck before the game. the area around the campus is very urban, but definetly not as trashy as i thought it was. even though i’m very much a suburban girl, visiting LA made me realize how dead this city is.
after we toured usc, my brother took us up to hollywood. my family and i did some tourist-y stuff like visiting a wax museum and some guiness world record museum, but we also visited the kodak theater area, which is super nice. i totally want to visit again because we only got a chance to scan through the shopping complex really fast. we also visited the mann’s chinese theater, which was apparently newly renovated. it looked pretty! i had no idea that they only had one movie playing at that original theater at a time. my brother said it was nice inside, and now i want to watch a movie there. the cement prints in front of the chinese theater are so cute! i want to do that 🙂 i should make my family do a mini one in our backyard or something 😛
later we picked up my brother’s friend bunny from LAX, and then he took us to a restaurant called fred 62. supposidly this restaurant is super famous, and my brother has seen heather graham and other famous people there. it looked pretty cool, and the food was really good.
long day. tomorrow i’m visiting UCSD. i’ve been spending a lot of time with the family. it’s nice since sometimes we’re so busy during the year that we barely get to slow down and just talk. i feel like i havn’t hung out with my friends in awhile tho. 🙁 i miss you!
RAVE// LA is super cool. 😀
RANT// all this talk about colleges leaves me more confused than ever. i still don’t know what i want to do. where i want to go. or even if i’ll get in to any good colleges anyway. 🙁
