gift exchanges
today was the PTSA holiday party, and we all had to bring a $10 “uni-sex” gift for the gift exchange. in the gift exchange we all got presents to open, and then afterwards everyone got a chance to “steal” from other people when mrs. hyashi called out things like “if your name has an “r” in it you can steal.” if the item she called out applied to you, you could steal. i’m not against holiday gift exchanges or anything, because i love those, but i really dislike the “stealing” part of the gift exchanges. stealing, in my opinion, kills the holiday spirit and leaves many un-happy with the gift that they get. i guess the original purpose of “stealing” in the white elephant gift exchange was so people could get the gifts that they wanted and at the same time add some fun to the gift exchange. that would all be well if people brought gifts that were all worth the same amount, or gifts that people would actually want. some people just brought stuff that they didn’t want, bad stuff mind you, and others took a bunch of trash jewlery and makeup, shoved it in a box, and used that as their gift. i suppose those people in the end probably feel the most lucked out in the end because they put in junk and got back something worth $10. but honestly, is that the purpose of the gift exchange? to put in nothing and get back something? personally, i just think that the stealing in gift exchanges has become corrupt because it makes me feel mean to give someone something that i got that i don’t want and in exchange steal their gift. : maybe i’m the only one that feels this way, but what fun is there in a gift exchange if everytime you get what you want, it gets stolen away? ๐ or just the fact that you feel like a bad person taking the bad gift that you got, and switching it with another person’s desired gift. point being, many people ended up unhappy at the end of the gift exchange. ๐ left me feeling bad that i had managed to steal back that $10 gift card for starbucks.
good movies
holes>> i thought this movie would be childish, or even worse make no sense, but it was really good! .. and it left no loose ends at the end of the movie, which made me happy. o! and it is a great book too. ๐
stuck on you>> sadly, i thought this movie was going to be like dumb and dumber, but it was… really good. ๐ it wasn’t dumb stoopid or cheesy. it was funny and somewat… touching. (well, in this weird sort of way) ๐
